Today is a very sad and heart breaking day. My very good friend and partner John Hardy Sr. passed away. John was an amazing man, father and businessman, he was my friend…….There are no words to speak to say how much we will miss him, but know he will forever be in our hearts.
Wherever the ocean meets the sky
There will be memories of you and I
When I look up at that sky so blue
All I see are visions of you

My family lived next door to the Hardys on George St. in Gorham. We moved to Gorham in 1971 from Houlton, ME and the Hardys moved to George St. shortly thereafter. Mr. Hardy was going to work for the Rockwell Co. (I think that was the name of the company) which had a test facility over by where Moody’s Collision Shop in Scarborough now is located. Mr. Hardy’s work for NASA had recently ended and he had a new job here. My brother and I and our parents became friends with the Hardy Family and my brother Mike and I became ice hockey teammates with John jr. and Tim on the former Pape Chevrolet team. I can remember how envious Mike and I were of John and Tim – Their Father (John Sr.) built them their own GO CART with his own two hands! We couldn’t believe we lived next door to a man from NASA. I have never to this day,40 years later, met any man as smart, kind, inventive, generous and wise as Mr. Hardy……..He will never be replaced, they don’t make them like Mr. John Hardy anymore………
My sincere condolences on the loss of your good friend, John Hardy Sr.
